Arsenal vs Liverpool: Premier League preview

Arsenal had won four games in a row to catapult themselves back into Europa League contention but slipped behind rivals Tottenham Hotspur after a defeat in the derby on Sunday. Arsenal are now four points off European qualification and need to take at least a point from the champions if they are to finish in the top seven. But Liverpool will be in no mood to be generous after dropping points against Burnley last weekend. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (20 goals) and Mohamed Salah (19) will retain hope of clinching the Premier League Golden Boot for a second successive season, but are running out of time to catch current leader Jamie Vardy (23).

Goals galore

Fixtures between these two sides in recent years have always been eventful, with Liverpool having the upper hand in those encounters. Liverpool have scored at least three goals in seven of their last eight games against the Gunners and should get some joy against a defence that looked shaky against Spurs last time out. Arsenal’s best bet may be to fight fire with fire; the last game between them was a 5-5 draw back in October.
