So why have Ramos and Rubio chosen the name?
Since the famous couple introduced their son to the world through social media, their followers have continued to share hypotheses surrounding the baby’s first name, almost all of which point to the Ridley Scott epic, ‘Gladiator’.
Many users have pointed out that throughout his career, Ramos has often been hailed as a gladiator or warrior, and the main protagonist of the multiple-Oscar-winning movie happens to be Máximo Décimo Meridio, played by Russell Crowe.
Sevilla connection with Ramos baby’s second name
According to several keen-eyed social media detectives, the baby’s second name also has links to the Roman era, during which Emperor Adriano was believed to have been born in Itálica – an ancient Roman city which was located where the modern Sevillan town of Santiponce is today. Santiponce is just five kilometers from Ramos’ hometown of Beds.
Upon leaving Madrid’s Moraleja hospital, both Ramos and Rubio spoke to the media but the pair did not go into much detail as to why they had chosen the name. “I think it is a very nice name,” said Rubio. “We liked both names and then we said that we were going put them together, so we changed.”
