As a part of its efforts to stem the spread of coronavirus infections in the state, Manipur's government has decided to extend state-wide complete lockdown for 15 more days until the end of August, unless further notice.

The decision was made in a meeting, attended by chief minister N Biren Singh and the state cabinet ministers, to assess the situation of the rising Covid-19 caseload in the state and take the appropriate measures to counter that surge in cases.

Curfew times

According to the statement issued by chief secretary Rakesh Kumar, a partial relaxation of some lockdown measures has been considered to make sure that basic services are being provided during the lockdown period.

Complete lockdown will be imposed across the state, from 5 pm till 6 am as the movement of individuals will be completely banned with only essential service providers exempted.

Up until 14 August Manipur had registered 4,198 Covid-19 confirmed cases, out of which 1,825 are still active cases getting their treatment in various hospitals and isolation centres.

2,360 patients have been discharged following their recovery so far, including 192 security forces personnel, while 13 lives have been claimed by the virus in the state since the start of the pandemic.
