Election 2020: When and where are the second and third presidential debates?

One down, two to go: Donald Trump will face challenger Joe Biden in two more televised debates in the coming weeks. The election is on 3 November.

Tuesday night saw incumbent President Donald Trump and Democratic rival Joe Biden lock horns for the first time in the race to lead the country. The firey 90-minute debate, moderated by Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace covered key topics; Trump and Biden's financial records, the supreme court, coronavirus, the economy, race relations, law and order climate change and election integrity. The first presidential debate was dominated by an interrupting, petulant Trump who refused to let Biden finish his alotted two minutes. At one point, Wallace had to play school-teacher and remind Trump that he agreed to the rules of the debate.

Biden: Trump racist

Joe Biden, at one point clearly frustrated, exclaimed; "It's hard to get a word in edgeways with this clown". The democrat challenger said of Trump; "this is a President who has used everything as a dog whistle to try to create racist hatred, racist division".

Trump went on to refuse to denounce white supremacy and defend his decision to end diversity training in some government institutions, claiming that they were teaching people to "hate our country."

When will the second and third presidential debates take place?

15 October: Second presidential debate, at Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida. Moderated by Steve Scully of C-SPAN Networks.

22 October: Third presidential debate, at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Moderated by Kristen Welker of NBC News.

All debates will take place from 21:00 - 22:30 ET, with no commercial interruptions.

All the major US networks and cable news channels are showing all the presidential debates: ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC and C-Span.

C-Span will be showing them live on their YouTube channel.

CBS News is also offering a live stream on YouTube.

Kamala Harris, Mike Pence also due to lock horns

Vice-President Mike Pence and California Senator Kamala Harris will also go head-to-head in a televised debate, due to take place on 7 October in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be moderated by Susan Page of USA Today. This debate will be divided into nine segments of about 10 minutes each, and each candidate will have two minutes to respond to the moderator's opening question, following which a deeper discussion of each topic will be held.
