LaLiga clubs tie up last-minute deals on transfer deadline day

The transfer window in Spain closes tonight at 23.59:59 hours CEST. For some LaLiga clubs, it is the last chance to strengthen their squads before Christmas.

Today, Monday 5 October, is the final day of the transfer window in Spain which will officially close at 23:59:59 hours CEST. Until that time, Spanish clubs and others across Europe will have a chance reinforce their squads with the new season already underway. In LaLiga, a number of operations are still in progress but due to the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, many clubs must sell before they can buy.

Real Madrid

Madrid have no plans to add to their squad on deadline day. No arrivals are expected as the club continues with its strategy of keeping costs down to a bare minimum. The only reinforcements Madrid have made over the summer have been the players who have returned after going out on loan - Ødegaard, Odriozola and Lunin. As for those who could leave today, there is little hope that Mariano will find a new club - despite hardly figuring under Zidane, he will probably stay at the Bernabéu for the remainder of the season.

Barcelona

Barça have a number of players who are expected to move on. Jean-Clair Todibo and Rafinha could be sold while the club is hoping to secure loan deals for Junior, Dembélé and Umtiti. As far as reinforcements are concerned, the club is working towards tying up ongoing operations for Manchester City defender Eric García and Olympique Lyon forward Memphis Depay.

Atlético

Atlético first must trim back their squad if they are to bring in new players. That is the situation they have found themselves in with Lucas Torreira, who they have agreed to sign on loan but can only complete when another member of Simeone's squad leaves. The objective is to find an outlet for Thomas Lemar or Héctor Herrera but both operations are difficult due to the price both players would command. Mollejo and Nehuén will leave on loan.

Sevilla

Sevilla are set to announce two new incorporations - Rekik and Idrissi. Today will be spent managing the operations of those who will be moving on - Carlos Fernández, who has attracted interest from several LaLiga clubs, Mesa, Gnagnon, Vidal and Amadou are those who could be on their way to new clubs today.

Villarreal

Villarreal completed all of their transfer dealing with the arrival of Argentine defender Juan Foyth. The Castellonenses have been one of the most active clubs in this transfer window, bringing in a number of new recruits - Coquelin, Parejo, Take Kubo, Rulli, Pervis Estupiñán and Juan Foyth. Today will be about finding new clubs for surplus players. Dani Raba and Sofiane Chakla will be going out on loan, most likely to Second Division clubs.
