Barcelona's Neto: "Taking a wage cut? Everyone has their point of view"
The Brazilian goalkeeper refused to be drawn into discussing one of the talking points at Barça and said he's not thinking about El Clásico just yet.
Barcelona goalkeeper Neto Murara joined coach Ronald Koeman in looking ahead to Barça's opening game of the 2020-21 Champions League against Ferencvaros.
What kind of a game are you expecting?
We hope we'll get off to a good start and get a good result. The whole team is full of hope and looking forward to the game.
What does El Clásico mean to you?
I haven't got a lot to say about the Clásico because we have a very important game tomorrow. The time will come when we can talk about Saturday's game but we are all focused on tomorrow's match.
Are you in favour of rejecting any kind of reduction in salary?
As far as burofaxes and internal matters are concerned, this isn't the place to discuss such issues and nor is it the right moment to be thinking about those things. We have to be focused on playing football, that's all.
In what aspect are the players against a wage cut?
It would not be right for me to answer that question, as I have just tried to explain. It's an internal matter. Everyone has their point of view and there are other people who are better suited to resolve the situation. These are issues which I cannot resolve - it's for other people to handle.
Coutinho is looking better than ever...
For me, it's just nice to have a friend of mine in the squad. And apart from that, he has a lot of quality as a player. He's shown the quality he has. I think he's feeling very positive, upbeat and driven after all of the trophies he won with Bayern. He's going to give the team a lot this season.
What was your feeling about the Getafe game?
No one likes losing. But we've put it behind us. Things move quickly in football and there's no point in dwelling in what happened the other day, whether it's good or bad. We've got to keeper working and focus on Tuesday's game against Ferencvaros.
Do you think you'll keep your place as first choice when Ter Stegen returns?
I train hard and always give my best. After that, it's the coach who makes all the decisions.
How much do you know about Ferencvaros?
They deserve our maximum respect. They'll be giving the best they have. They've come through the preliminary rounds and beaten some top teams. We respect them but we are going out to win the game.
Fine. We know how things work in this game. He seems happy to me. Sometimes things things go your way and sometimes they don't, but the season is very long. He's going to give us alot, like he always has.
