The 116th World Series gets underway Tuesday 20 October at 8 p.m. ET. The Fall Classic will be contested between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays with the Dodgers currently favored to win. The Dodgers took home the National League pennant on Sunday coming back after being down 3 games to one against the Atlanta Braves. For their part the Tampa Bay Rays vanquished the Houston Astros, who gave them a run for their money in a three game winning spree forcing a game seven on Saturday where the Rays got the American League pennant. Due to the covid-19 pandemic they will meet on neutral ground in the Globe Life Field stadium in Arlington Texas.

Although the Rays are going into the first game more rested the Dodgers are the favorites to win the Fall Classic. Both FiveThirtyEight and ESPN predicting roughly a 70 to 30 chance that the Dodgers will be raising the trophy for the first time since 1988. The Rays are taking their second swing at the getting their first title having lost to the Philadelphia Phillies in their first appearance in 2008.

The 2020 World Series will be a historical game

The coronavirus upended the regular season last spring causing it to be cut by 102 games to just 60. The teams agreed to an extra round of playoffs in an expanded postseason where they have taken place at a neutral location with strict protocols due to the pandemic. It will be only the second time all games in the World Series will be played in the same stadium, in 1944 the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Browns both shared the same home stadium Sportsman’s Park.

The Games will be broadcast on FOX. You can also watch the games live streamed with the FOX sports app or listen to the games with the MLB app.
