Following a meeting between club's president and the head of the Moroccan Football Federation, Raja Casablanca have officially requested CAF to postpone their semi-final return leg against Zamalek due to the spread of covid-19 infection among players.

The Moroccan club released a statement on Wednesday to share the latest circumstances surrounding the team's squad ahead of their journey to face Egypt's Zamalek in the second leg of the African Champions League semi-final, confirming that the club has officially submitted a request to CAF in order to postpone the game and are waiting for the response.

The statement explained that an urgent meeting between the head of Moroccan Football Federation Fouzi Lekjaa and the club's president Jawad Ziyat was held late on Tuesday to discuss the current situation of Raja's squad that has been seriously hit with covid-19 infection as eight players have recently tested positive for the virus prior to the team's flight that was scheduled for Wednesday.

Following the meeting, Raja's board officially requested CAF to postpone their game against Zamalek due to the difficulties the team is suffering from as it seems impossible for Raja's team now to leave Morocco after health authorities decided to place the whole squad under quarantine for 7 days.

Following explaining the ongoing circumstances, Raja are currently waiting for CAF to respond to their request.

The club concluded their statement by thanking Mr. Lekjaa - who has been closely following their issue - for the immense support he has shown during the difficult times the club is experiencing.
