Los Angeles Galaxy having the worst season in their history

Guillermo Barros Schelotto is four games away from becoming the worst coach in the history of LA Galaxy if they remain in last in the Western Conference

Estados UnidosUpdate:
Los Angeles Galaxy having the worst season in their history

Los Angeles Galaxy remain in last place of the Wester Conference with 18 points in the same amount of games. The five time MLS Cup champions lost against Los Angeles FC this weekend in another edition of ‘El Tráfico’ and are currently out of the playoffs.

Since the MLS decided to continue the 25th season amid the coronavirus pandemic, the LA Galaxy won four games in a row, including two wins against LAFC, but since the scoreless draw against San Jose Earthquakes on 13 September it has been all downhill for them.

Even if they win their next four games the LA Galaxy will end with 30 total points, the lowest in the team’s history since it began back in 1996. The team brought Javier Hernández this season, but the striker has only scored once in 10 games. Out of those 10 games that the Mexican striker has played for LA Galaxy, the team only won one time and lost the rest.

In 2017, the team ended with 32 points, the lowest at the time, after 34 games and they failed to make it to the playoffs that year. That season the team was the second worst team of the Western Conference and had the worst goal difference in the league.

Only two teams are doing worse than LA Galaxy this season but they are from the Eastern Conference. DC United has the same amount of points as the team coached by Guillermo Barros Schelotto but with a worst goal difference (-15). While Cincinnati have only taken 16 points from 20 games this season.

What is next for the LA Galaxy?

The team can still make it to the playoffs with four games left and revert the situation. LA Galaxy will visit Portland Timbers on 28 October, host Real Salt Lake on 1 November and Seattle Sounders three days later, and end the regular season on 8 September visiting Vancouver Whitecaps.
