Javier Aguirre: "Two MLS sides have contacted me directly"

Since Los Angeles Galaxy parted ways with Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the Mexican coach has been linked to a move to Major League Soccer.

Javier Aguirre has been on Los Angeles Galaxy’s list to take the coaching job next year since the departure of Guillermo Barros Schelotto. The 61-year-old has confirmed the interest to work in Major League Soccer because he likes the league's structure and that the clubs respect the coaches projects.

Currently he doesn’t have a job and Aguirre confirmed that he has already been in contact with several clubs from MLS. The former Mexico manager was interviewed by ESPN Deportes’ Futbol Picant where he confirmed he is intrigued to work in MLS.

“MLS is attractive to me. Yes, I have been in touch with teams. I have a couple of people in the USA and there have been opportunities and my name was in the mix,” he said.

Two teams interested in Aguirre

Earlier this week Javier Aguirre also spoke on SiriusXM FC’s Counterattack with hosts Tony Meola and Brian Dunseth and he confirmed that two MLS teams have contacted him directly already about taking on the coaching job.

"I already had some interviews with a couple of MLS teams about a coaching job. Honestly so far only two teams have contacted me directly. I talked to those teams and gave them my CV. Now I have to wait for the season to be over and we are going to talk again in January 2021. I like the MLS and I am closer," said Aguirre about coaching in MLS.

It is suspected that one of those teams in the Los Angeles Galaxy. Javier Aguirre has already coached Javier Hernández with the national team and he could bring the best of the striker that has scored one goal in 10 games this season.
