Two-time World Cup winner Alex Morgan makes Tottenham Hotspur debut

It took Alex Morgan 15 months to get back in shape after giving birth and on Saturday she made her debut with Tottenham women in the 1-1 draw against Reading. The two-time World Cup champion entered the game in the 69th minute in England’s Women’s Super League.

Morgan is currently on loan from Orlando Pride and she will play with the London side until the end of the season. The 31-year-old was scheduled to make her debut last month, but the team informed that she had a “small setback” in her recovery since giving birth to her daughter, Charlie, back in May.

Her baby was in the stands

In making the move to London, her husband and football player Servando Carrasco and her daughter Charlie have been with her and both were present in the stands as she made her debut. Morgan’s daughter was wearing her jersey at The Hive Stadium.

It is fun to look up after the match and see her there supporting me,” said Morgan after her debut.

After such a long lay-off she is set to rejoin the United States women’s national team that will participate in the delayed Tokyo Olympics next year. She is one of five American players in the English soccer this season, with Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis at Manchester City, and Tobin Heath and Christen Press at Manchester United.
