Tottenham vs Manchester City: how and where to watch - times, TV, online
All the information you need to know on how and where to watch Spurs host Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London) on 21 November at 18:30 CET.
Tottenham will take on Manchester City at home in one of the most interesting matches in the Premier League this weekend. It promises to be entertaining on the pitch but also on the sidelines, as arguably the two highest-profile managers in football, José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, will face each other again, in a reminder of LaLiga’s Clásicos of years past.
Spurs are sitting second in the league, with five wins and one defeat, just one point behind leaders Leicester City, while The Citizens are 10th in the standings, with 12 points, five less than the hosts. It is the first time since January 2017 that Tottenham go into a match against City above their opponents in the table.
Double motivation for Mourinho
As for the coaches’ head-to-head record, Mourinho's 10 defeats to Guardiola-led teams are more than he has suffered against any other manager, so that may also act as an incentive for the hosts to try to upset the visitors, who haven’t performed as expected in the domestic competition so far, unlike their showing in Champions League.
Tottenham go into the match without Matt Doherty after he tested positive for coronavirus. Team-mate Gareth Bale played against him during the match between Ireland and Wales, but he hasn’t tested positive and if there are no last-minute surprises, he will be able to play against Guardiola’s men.
Erik Lamela will miss out due to a foot issue, while Steven Bergwin and Tanguy Ndombele seem to have recovered from their injuries and will be ready to play.
Mourinho’s hopes of getting a good result will also rely on Spurs’ killer striker Harry Kane, while Son Heung-min is expected to partner him up front.
Meanwhile, the international break has weakened Manchester City’s squad, as Raheem Sterling suffered a calf injury, and Nathan Ake is out due to a hamstring problem. It's worth noting, however, that Sterling has not yet been ruled out for the game.
Agüero to return?
Amid those doubts, this period without club competition might have been positive too, as Sergio Agüero could return to the team after recovering from a hamstring injury. And the Argentine striker likes playing against Tottenham: he has scored 11 goals in the Premier League against Spurs, his second-favourite opponent after Newcastle United.
Fernandinho and Benjamín Mendy have also been able to enjoy some time off and treat their injuries, but the match probably comes too soon for both of them.
