Jalisco governor confirms Chivas will host León behind closed doors

Chivas will host León on Wednesday night for the first leg of the semi-finals of the 2020 Guardianes tournament. The governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, announced prior to this match that in this series the Akron Stadium will not allow fans inside, unlike they did last week against América for the quarter-finals.

The authorities explained that at least 14 days must pass to ensure that no attendant tests positive for coronavirus. Last week Chivas allowed 6,935, 15% percent capacity, inside the Akron Stadium after receiving the green light from the Liga MX and the health authorities.

“Chivas opened the doors of the Akron Stadium for the first time in this tournament in the first leg of the quarter-finals against América last week. This was a good example of how other clubs in the Liga MX can slowly start allowing people inside their respective stadiums amid the coronavirus pandemic,” read the statement from the authorities in Jalisco.

Under this protocol at least 14 days must pass to ensure that no attendant tests positive for coronavirus. Just to make sure that in case someone did, we don’t spread the virus among the people from the state.”

Could see fans in the final

Under this health protocol in the state of Jalisco, if Chivas eliminate León in the semi-final series this week, they could re-open the doors of the Akron Stadium for the final that is set to start on 6 December.
