Real Madrid's Christmas message: "We'll get through this together"

Real Madrid's annual Christmas video was delivered with a more serious tone than in previous years - this time, there was no mention of sporting successes, the emphasis was on a year marked by the coronavirus pandemic and hopefully, happier times in 2021. Florentino Pérez, flanked by the coaches of the football and basketball teams, Zinedine Zidane and Pablo Laso, together with the team captains - Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Felipe Reyes and Sergio  Llull wished madridistas a Happy Christmas in the traditional festive video while maintaining social distancing protocol.

The messages were serious but positive. “From Real Madrid, during this special period and difficult moment, we would like to send you all a message of goodwill, solidarity and hope,” Florentino Pérez began. “We hope that we can return to normality in the New Year, 2021 and share many successes with you".

Zidane added: “We know that these are difficult times and we need to be more united than ever”. Laso expressed his gratitude to all of those who have been making efforts and sacrifices during the pandemic: “Thank you to all of those who have been helping us to win this difficult battle”.

Marcelo and Sergio Ramos, as captains of the first team, put on their best smile to send out a positive message. Ramos said: “We can all get through this, fighting together as we have always done”. Marcelo, as second captain of the football team, added: “Let's hope that peace and health is always with us”.

Basketball team skipper Felipe Reyes sent a message of encouragement: “I would like to send a message of support to all of the families and to those most in need in these moments”. While Llull concluded: “We will never give up and nothing can take away our hope”.
