South African club Mamelodi Sundowns announced on Monday that they have terminated negotiations with Al-Ahly of Egypt over signing attacking midfielder Gaston Sirino, as both parties couldn't reach a suitable agreement on a transfer fee after the Egyptian side had recently made two bids to secure the services of the Uruguayan.

Al-Ahly, who have a record of nine CAF Champions League titles, made their first offer before the summer transfer window closed in South Africa, which Sundown's board found inadequate and turned down. The Egyptian outfit made another bid a few days ago worth 2.5 million dollars with all reports suggesting that negotiations between the two clubs had reached a very advanced level.

However, the South African club released a statement on Monday confirming that talks concerning Sirino's transfer have come to an end, pointing out that the non-completion of the deal will not affect their good relationship with the Red Devils.

“The good relations between the President of Ahly, Mahmoud El-Khatib, and the President of Sundowns, Patrice Motsepe, will continue, as well as the good relations between Sundowns and Ahly, but there is no point or purpose in continuing the discussion on Gaston Sirino,” the statement explained.

The statement also noted that Gaston should now be focused on getting himself a starting position in Soundown's line-up.
