Cristiano Ronaldo defends boxer Andy Ruiz after criticism

In June 2019, Andy Ruiz defeated Anthony Joshua to become the triple world heavyweight champion and the first Mexican boxer to win the title. In December of the same year there was a rematch and Ruiz lost his three world titles to Joshua.

For that fight, the Mexican boxer was heavily criticized over his physique because he was not as ‘fit’ as Joshua. That was Ruiz's last fight, but he is expected to return to the ring this year with an opponent yet to be determined.

Cristiano defends Ruiz

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in the documentary 'Parallel Worlds' on DAZN and spoke about both fighters, giving his opinion regarding their physique since he is one of the fittest athletes on the planet.

“Joshua is one of the best, but Ruiz is good. That’s what I was talking about with my friends, because they made fun of him and told me to look at Ruiz’s fat body. I told them, 'Listen, the body doesn’t matter. What matters is the preparation'," said Cristiano.
