Harry Kane advised to join Real Madrid
Harry Kane will not win trophies at Tottenham and should take the opportunity to join Real Madid should it arise, according to Jonathan Woodgate.
Harry Kane must leave Tottenham for Real Madrid if he craves success and wants to reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. That is according a former player who wore the white of both clubs, Jonathan Woodgate, who has advised the current Tottenham talisman to take the opportunity to go to Madrid should it arise.
“If Real Madrid come in for you - especially Harry Kane - he has got to go. If he wants to win trophies and get onto that next pedestal of Messi, Ronaldo and that type of player, he has to go,” said Woodgate in an interview for Stadium Astro.
While Spurs have been much improved under Jose Mourinho and look capable of mounting a genuine title bid, Woodgate believes Kane has no chance of winning trophies at the North London club for the forseeable future.
“I don’t see him winning the league at Spurs, not this season and not in the next few seasons. They have got too much building to do to get up there with Liverpool and Man City. For me, if he wants to win the European Cup, then he has got a chance of winning it at Real Madrid.”
Kane in talks with Spurs amid City interest
One of the world’s most potent strikers, Kane is a sought-after commodity who has been linked with several of high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG. The 27-year-old is understood to be in talks over a new deal at Spurs amid interest from City.
City are reportedly willing to offer more than €100 million for the England international, who, at €120 million, is currently the joint-third most valuable player in the world according to transfemarkt.com valuations.
With 33-year-old Karim Benzema nearing the end of his contract in 2022, Real Madrid are keen to find his replacement for the long-term future. And while Kane could be seen as potential candidate to replace the French veteran at the Bernabéu, Los Blancos' top priorities are PSG’s Kylian Mbappé and Dortmund star Erling Haaland – meaning a move for the Tottenham forward seems unlikely as things stand.
