Cafu: "Fans are going to have an amazing experience in 2022"

Cafu, Global Ambassador for the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), has said that participating in the World Cup next year would be a dream for players across the globe.

The Brazil legend, who is the only player in history to have appeared in three consecutive World Cup finals at USA 1994, France 1998 and Japan and South Korea in 2002, said during an interview with the official SC Qatar 2022 website: “The World Cup is without doubt a tournament for the whole world so every country has the right to bid for it and to host it. Qatar organizing the World Cup has a special significance for football fans in the region as it will give thousands of fans in Qatar and from across the region the opportunity to experience the most important tournament in the world up close for the first time. Given what Qatar is putting together in terms of its ongoing infrastructure projects, all of the fans that attend the World Cup are going to have an amazing experience in 2022.”

The Brazilian who is the most-capped player in his country’s history with 142 appearances, continued: “The organizers of the Qatar World Cup are eager to ensure that its impact extends across the whole world, and the commitment shown by Qatar in terms of sustainability at the tournament will have a positive effect on the environment as well as setting new standards for the organization of the big sporting events of the future, among them the idea of reusing parts of the World Cup host stadiums after the tournament with the goal of promoting infrastructure developments in emerging nations as well as staging the competition at a point in the seasons when the players will be at the peak of their performance levels.”

Cafu: players will be at their peak at World Cup

Cafu also noted one of the novelties of the Qatar World Cup will be the proximity of all the host venues with fans able to easily move between games and competing teams able to vase themselves in one place for the duration of the tournament. “For football fans Qatar 2022 will be a dream come true as they will be able to go to two games in one day during the groups stage because the stadiums are all close to one another. National teams will also be able to take advantage of the benefits of having one base for the tournament and avoiding the necessity for long journeys between each game. They will gain more time for the players to train, relax and focus more on performing well in games.”
