Ryan Garcia plans to retire at 26 to fight against hate generated by Donald Trump
The Mexican-American boxer became the World Boxing Council champion on 2 January after defeating Luke Campbell at the American Airlines center in Dallas, Texas.
Ryan Garcia is the current WBC champion after defeating Luke Campbell in Dallas on 2 January and he is one of the most electrifying boxers in the world. He is undefeated with a 21-0 record and is already in talks for his next fight with Gervonta Davis.
Early retirement
In November 2019 he said he will retire when he turns 26-years-old after beating every boxer that he fights. Currently Garcia is 22 and will turn 23 on 8 August, but the Mexican-American boxer said that once he retires he wants to fight against hate and confusion in the United States created by Donald Trump in order to inspire the community.
'I'm gonna move on to inspire people in a different way and to play my part in this battle against hate and confusion in America. I don’t care which way you put it. I don’t care if he [Trump] covers his tracks after he says something bad,” said Garcia speaking to SiriusXM Boxing.
'Think about this: so, you say something bad and then you try to cover that, whatever you said is bad not forgotten. And people are trying to confuse people and that's where the confusion comes from because he's always covering his tracks after he says something that's not right. You don't do that because then that causes confusion.'
'Whatever you put out into the world, it will be out. Trust me, that's another fight, but don't worry, in due time that's going to be that big one and I'm going to win that one, too. Trust me,” he added.
