Hugo Sánchez plans to invest in Major League Soccer

Hugo Sánchez is one of the most legendary players in Mexico and made history playing in LaLiga with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. Currently he is an analyst for ESPN, but he has openly expressed that he wants to be more involved with football.

Sánchez was in talks with Cruz Azul to manage the team for the 2021 Guardianes tournament, but couldn’t reach a deal in the end. Now he will wait until the summer to talk to other Liga MX teams about a head coach job.

Sánchez eyeing MLS

According to Cancha, Sánchez was going to invest in a Major League Soccer franchise last year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic he was unable to do it. The former Mexican international wanted to invest in the new MLS franchise Austin FC, who are co-owned by Matthew McConaughey and will enter the league in 2021.

There are only two more franchises that will enter the MLS, Charlotte FC (2022) and Sacramento Republic (2023). According to Cancha, Sánchez will try to invest in either franchise before the expansion process ends in 2023 in Major League Soccer.
