Inter Milan vs Juventus: how and where to watch - times, TV, online
All the information you need to know on how and where to watch the big Serie A clash between two title contenders at the San Siro (Milan) on 17 January at 20:45 CET.
In what appears to be the most open Serie A title race in several years, two of the country's footballing giants go head to head on Sunday evening at the San Siro. Juventus have had things pretty much their own way for the last decade in the league, but going into this clash they lie fourth - four points behind their hosts and seven behind leaders AC Milan - although have a game in hand.
Inter Milan vs Juventus: Conte vs Pirlo
Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte believes Italian champions Juventus remain the team to beat in Serie A ahead of their meeting at San Siro on Sunday. The Turin club have won the league title for nine consecutive years but haven’t enjoyed their usual domestic dominance this term, as Andrea Pirlo oversees a transitional period in his first season as coach.
“It’s inevitable that Juventus represent a yardstick for everyone, for years they have dominated in Italy,” Conte said at a media conference. “When you want to know what level you are at, you compare yourself to Juventus.”
Sunday's "Derby of Italy" offers Inter the chance to leave Juventus with a mountain to climb in their title defence. But former Juve midfielder Conte, who won three Serie A titles as coach of the Turin club from 2011 to 2014, underlined that no team can claim to have shifted the balance of power.
“I don’t want to state who are the favourites. We have great respect for a team that wants to continue its domination for a tenth consecutive year,” he said. “Last year we reduced the points gap and we hope this year to do the same. Beforehand, Juve were 20-25 points ahead of the rest, that wasn’t good.
“No team in Italy can say they have bridged the gap to Juventus. For nine years they have dominated and done important work, managing to change things and rejuvenate the squad without sacrificing experience.”
Juve boss Pirlo was downplaying the game as being crucial to the title, but is heading into it focused on a win.
"We never set out looking for a draw. We're going to San Siro to win," the coach said at a media conference.
"It's a match that will be important but not fundamental for the title," he said.
"I'm initially expecting an aggressive Inter that will give rhythm to the game. We've prepared for this and we must not be afraid of playing our own game, even in such an important match. It will be a tactical battle, but we must free our minds."
The game will see Pirlo go head-to-head with Inter coach Antonio Conte, who he worked under from 2011 to 2014 during his playing days at Juventus.
"He was the first person who made me think about becoming a coach. He taught me so much," Pirlo said.
