The French manager has been with CF Montréal since 2019, but he is open to a new challenge in English football and the Cherries want to sign him.

Bournemouth keen to appoint Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry is currently under contract with CF Montréal in Major League Soccer (MLS), but he has been open about continuing his career in English football. According to several reports, the former Arsenal legend tops the list of candidates to take the manager's job at Bournemouth after the club parted ways with Jason Tindall.

Currently Jonathan Woodgate has been appointed as the interim manager as the Championship team bids to return to the Premier League. They are in sixth place with 46 points and a record of 12-10-7. According to The Athletic and ESPN, the Cherries have a strong interest in signing him, but no deal has been done just yet.

Coaching career

Henry started his career coaching Arsenal’s youth teams in February 2015 and in August 2016 he became the second assistant coach of Belgium national team, working alongside head coach Roberto Martínez.

After acquiring some experience he was appointed as the manager of Monaco on 11 October 2018, but the results didn’t satisfy the bosses. The results were not good, leaving Monaco in 19th place after his departure and with a record of 4-5-11 in 20 games in charge.

Second opportunity

On 14 November 2019, Henry signed a two-year deal with an option to extend it until 2023 with the Major League Soccer team CF Montréal. Last season the French coach took the side to the play-in round of the playoffs, but lost to New England Revolution 2-1. If Henry takes the Bournemouth job, the Montréal bosses would make an offer to Patrick Viera.
