The NBA 2021 All-Star game is fast approaching in a condensed season not even two months old. The game is scheduled for 7 March in Atlanta at State Farm Arena should there not be any complications before then.

The selection process took another step towards completing the rosters for who will start with fans making their picks with voting ending on Tuesday. There were few outliers this year going into the final vote, most notably Klay Thompson who received just over 225,000 votes even though he has been out injured all season. The final say will be Thursday 18 February at 7pm ET.

The names at the top of the leaderboards don’t come as much of a surprise though. Kevin Durant and LeBron James emerged as the leaders in the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively, earning more than 4 million votes each so far. As team captains, they will determine the rest of their roster once the pool is chosen on 23 February.

Who will be on Kevin Durant's Eastern Conference team?

On the front court leading the way to join Durant will be Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid who both broke 3 million votes each.

Antetokounmpo is a fine choice averaging 28.2 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists with the Bucks, who have the East’s second-best record. Embiid, who came in third in the fans’ vote, has averaged 29.7 points, a career-high, 10.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Add to that Durant’s 29.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.2 assists would make a formidable line-up.

On the back court Bradley Beal tops the list and rightly so, just slightly down from a career-high and league-high 33.1 points, he's averaging 32.8. There will be competition to join Beal for the final spot in the back court between Kyrie Irving, who has more votes, and James Harden. Irving has been averaging more points at 28.3 to Harden’s 24.5, but Harden leads the league in assists averaging 11.8 per game.

Who will be on LeBron James 's Western Conference team?

LeBron can expect to have Nikola Jokic and Kawhi Leonard as his fellow starters in the front court come tipoff. Jokic has been the standout player for his lackluster team the Nuggets this year, averaging 27.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game. Leonard the 2019 Finals MVP has averaged 26.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and five assists.

In the back court Stephen Curry and Luka Doncic top the leaderboards. Curry has rebounded from an injury-plagued 2019-20 season to average 30 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6 assists harking back to his 2015-16 unanimous MVP season. Doncic is having a solid season with an average 29.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 9.4 assists.
