"Víctor Vázquez is going to help Javier Hernández" - Greg Vanney

The Spanish midfielder joined the Los Angeles Galaxy ahead of the 2021 MLS season and the manager hopes he can help ‘Chicharito’ score more goals.

"Víctor Vázquez is going to help Javier Hernández" - Greg Vanney

Greg Vanney was appointed as the new Los Angeles Galaxy manager for the upcoming 2021 Major League Soccer season. During his first press conference he was asked about Javier Hernández, who had a disappointing season with the LA Galaxy in his freshman year in MLS. Vanney understands that ‘Chicharito’ is not a playmaker but he is 'lethal' inside the box and he depends on the team to score goals.

That is why the new LA Galaxy manager is hopeful that the Mexican international will reach his full potential in his sophomore year in Major League Soccer. ‘Chicharito’ has been seen working out hard during the off-season and he is committed to bouncing back and showing why the LA Galaxy bet on him. The Mexican international only scored two goals in 12 appearances.

Chicharito will benefit from Vázquez

Vanney is trying to build a team around Hernández and that is why he asked for Víctor Vázquez. The bosses from LA Galaxy accepted his request and today it was announced that the midfielder from Spain will join the team ahead of the beginning of the season.

I like everything about Víctor. He is one of the most intelligent soccer players that I have been around. He has this ability to organize and understand the game. Vázquez knows when to give a pass and his recognition for the game is amazing. I think Javier Hernández will benefit from Víctor,” Vanney said at Wednesday's video conference.

Javier makes those quick runs and Víctor will recognize them and put the ball where it needs to be. So again Víctor is another guy that can organize the final action for this team because he has that quality.”
