Real Madrid monitoring Spain international Pedro Porro
According to O Jogo, the LaLiga club wants the Spain international to compete with Dani Carvajal for the right-back position. His contract at Man City runs until 2024.
Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Spain international Pedro Porro very closely, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo. If the right-back were to arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu it would be to compete with Dani Carvajal. The 21-year-old currently plies his trade with Sporting CP, on loan from Manchester City, where he has a contract until June 2024. For the moment, he will spend the remainder of this season and next on loan in Lisbon.
Manchester City player
According to O Jogo, the recent Spain debutant has been in touch with Sporting after his debut with Spain against Georgia to find out about his current situation. Despite the fact that City paid €12 million for his services, he has not made his debut with the Premier League team. Last season he played on loan at Real Valladolid and also knows LaLiga from his time at Girona. After that, City sent him on loan to Portugal. This is where he has seen real development in his game.
In February, he won the award for best defender in the Portuguese league for the third consecutive time. He also received the award for the best goal of the competition in the same month and has become an essential player for the side, culminating in Spain manager Luis Enrique calling him up for the 2022 World Cup qualifying matches.
Madrid monitoring Pedro Porro
Three seasons ago, when he was not a regular in Girona's first team, Real Madrid and Barcelona both fought for his services. At that time, Pedro Porro was playing on the right wing. Over time, he has adapted his game, although always with an offensive style.
Feet on the ground
Pedro Porro recently spoke in an interview with AS in which he criticised himself for the poor spell he had during his time at Valladolid. "It was a very bad year and it cannot be repeated. Injuries do not come alone. I think I was still a bit overwhelmed. Football things. I looked at what I did wrong. I focused on what I didn't have and learned the lessons, while focusing on the next objective."
Asked about why Spanish full-backs play abroad, Pedro Porro said: "Maybe in other other leagues we fit in better. What is clear is that we have quality. We are more offensive. Those players with a lot of experience are playing in big teams. The truth is, I don't focus on where I am playing, but on doing my best when I do play."
