Spain 3-1 Kosovo: as it happened

Thanks for joining us this evening!

That's it for the World Cup qualifiers for now but Spain will play Sweden away during the next round in September before a potentially decisive meeting between the two nations on 14 November at a yet-to-be-decided venue in Spain.

The ref blows for full time and Spain beat Kosovo 3-1 to go top of Group B, one point ahead of Sweden but having played a game more.

90+3

A spell of Spain possession ends as Moreno sends the ball straight out and that's it in Seville!

90+2

Kosovo still driving forward in stoppage time to try and grab another...

90

Three minutes added in Seville.

88

Kastrati! Still work to do at the back for Spain though as the Dinamo Zagreb youngster clips a shot with the outside of his boot after a Kosovo break. It wasn't far away either.

87

We wouldn't be too surprised if Ramos installs himself as a centre forward here.

86

Sergio Ramos coming on for a brief cameo, which will be enough to earn the Real Madrid defender his 180th cap. Quite incredible. Eric García the player to make way.

84

Spain stroking the ball around now with the wind out of Kosovo's sails following that Moreno strike. The visitors had been back in this game for all of a couple of minutes.

81

Olmo off after a decent evening's work with Sergio Canales on.

80

Fabián chances his arm from distance but that is flying high and none too handsome.

78

Glorious from Zeneli, who combines with fellow sub Kastrati to carve an opening in Spain's defence. His shot hits the side netting and the flag was up anyway. The Reims and Dinamo Zagreb players have really added a touch of class since they came on, which sort of begs the question why did they not start?

76

Torres again! The City youngster finds himself unmarked at the far post but clips his shot into the side netting.

The Villarreal striker scores moments after coming on with a glancing header that restores Spain's advantage in Seville!

74

Goooooooooooooool! Moreno bags Spain's third!

74

Corner for Spain as Moreno's shot is blocked.

72

Kosovo have suddenly got their tails up and Simón is called into action again to deal with a nice little ball into the area.

71

Simón is not overly prone to clangers but that was a horrible mistake from the Spain number one.

Simón charges out of his area and gets in a pickle with Besar Halimi about 30 yards out. The Sandhausen midfielder has a look and cracks a beautiful strike in from distance!

69

Gooooooooooooooool! What a goal! Kosovo pull one back!

67

Changes for Spain as Pedri makes way for Fabián Ruiz and Gerard Moreno replaces Morata.

65

Kosovo are starting to gain a foothold in Spain's half now with some crisp passing moves but the final ball is lacking.

62

Ujkani! The Kosovo keeper makes another fine save to deny Torres, this time blocking a stinging right-footed effort from City player.

60

Close for Kosovo! Kastrati drives into the area and is bundled off the ball but it deflects off Llorente and almost sneaks in at Simón's near post!

59

Olmo tees up Pedri but the Barça midfielder's shot is weak and straight at Ujkani.

57

Zeneli straight into the action as he delivers a free kick into the area that Simón comes out to punch to safety.

56

Arbër Zeneli on for Kosovo, Benjamin Kololli off.

55

Spain have a chance from a corner but Kosovo again clear without too much trouble.

54

Rashica off, Lirim Kastrati on for Kosovo.

51

Torres! The City youngster should have added a second to his tally there but Ujkani makes a cracking save at point blank range to deny him!

49

Hekuran Kryeziu goes in the book for a clattering challenge on Busquets and will be suspended for Kosovo's next game.

47

Morata! You get the feeling this will not be the Juve striker's night as he scuffs a pull-back from Torres with the goal at his mercy.

46

Back underway in Seville! No changes at half time by the looks of things.

Spain have had a whopping 83.6 percent of the ball in the first half and Kosovo have barely been out of their half in the first 45. Whether Luis Enrique will make some wholesale changes at half time remains to be seen but the visitors will have to produce a much more adventurous display after the break to salvage something from this game.

45+1

And that's the half! Very comfortable for Spain so far. Simón has yet to face a shot and the hosts have racked up 13 in the opening 45.

45

One minute added in Seville.

44

The ball is hoisted forward to Vedat Muriqi but his header is straight at Simón with nobody in support.

42

Morata! The Juve striker almost gets his boot to a ball bouncing dangerously around in the six-yard box but Kosovo hack it clear.

41

Kosovo are pinned back in their own half now as Spain seek to finish this off before half time.

37

Plenty of time left but you have the feeling that will do it for Spain. Kosovo don't generally score freely although they did stick four past Lithuania a week ago.

The City youngster picks up a cross field ball and drives forward before thumping a shot past Ujkani to make it two! Bernard Challandes is protesting an offside but it looked to be marginally on.

35

Gooooooooooooool! Ferran Torres!

35

That's three goals in 11 caps for the Leipzig forward now.

A chance appears to have gone begging as Torres dithers and Morata overhits his layoff, but Alba picks it up and feeds Olmo, who picks his spot and plants it in the top corner with a glorious strike!

33

Goooooooooooool! Dani Olmo strikes again!

30

82 percent possession for Spain and eight shots on the half-hour mark. It's still 0-0 though so Kosovo's plan is working so far.

29

A lovely run from Torres across the face of the Kosovo defence but his final shot is scufed with his left and bobs out without troubling Ujkani.

26

Florent Hadergjonaj gets a whack in the chops from Jordi Alba but it wasn't intentional. The ref makes sure the Kasimpasa full back is ok and play continues.

24

Rashica has a chance to break but his touch lets him down and Spain send it back to Simón.

23

Koke sends this one long towards Morata, arriving on the penalty spot, but Kosovo clear. The visitors have been solid in the air so far and don't seem too troubled by that approach.

22

But the Juventus striker cooks something up out of nothing with a turn and shot that Ujkani does well to deflect away for a corner.

19

Lovely from Spain's two Manchester City players, García striding forward from the back and finding Torres, who plays in a decent cross but there's nobody there to attack it. Morata has been largely anonymous so far.

17

Dani Olmo has been Spain's liveliest attacking outlet so far but his cross on this occasion is straight into the gloves of Ujkani.

15

Another corner for Spain, Koke over it... and they go short like it's 2010 again, with predictable results.

13

Jordi Alba pulled up for handball under pressure from Bersant Celina.

11

Good pressing from Kosovo here as they harry Spain off the ball and win back possesion.

9

Milot Rashica almost makes a mug of Eric García but the Spain defender recovers to deny the Werder Bremen midfielder a chance to drive towards goal.

8

Corner to the hosts... Kosovo clear at the second attempt.

6

Spain with plenty of the ball in the early exchanges. Kosovo dropping back in numbers when not in possession but leaving two up if the chance to break arises.

4

Dani Olmo goes on a run and fancies his chances after his thuderbolt against Georgia but this one is always going high and it's into the empty stand behind Ujkani's sticks.

2

Kosovo come forward with a decent attack down the left but Fidan Aliti's cross plops onto the roof of Simón's net.

1

We're off! Kosovo get us underway in Seville!

The captains, Ujkani and Busquets, meet in the middle for the coin toss and exchange of banners.

And now Spain's...

Here we go with the anthems, Kosovo first up...

Unai Simón continues in goal this evening. The Athletic Bilbao keeper has very much made the gloves his own and this is his sixth start in a row for La Roja.

Spain's record in World Cup qualifying is pretty solid and the bookmakers are not giving Kosovo much of a chance this evening but if there was ever a "good" time to be playing the 2010 World Cupo winners, this is it.

Luis Enrique's second spell lacking goals

The Spain boss has failed to find a solution to his scoring problems since he took over the national side for his second stint. There are a few goals in this evening's side though, and plenty of talent on the bench if Kosovo decide to keep it tight at the back.

Spain starting XI confirmed

Luis Enrique has gone for a reasonably experienced side this evening, opting to leave the likes of Gil and Pedro Porro in reserve. Pedri and Marcos Llorente, who slots in at right back, may not have many international caps but a bring a decent amount of club experience while Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo have shown their mettle in previous games with seven goals between them in 19 appearances.

Kosovo narrowly missed out on qualification for Euro 2020, reaching the semi-finals of the playoffs after almost finishing second in Group A in their first-ever international qualifying tournament. Going into the final game needing to beat the Czech Republic to advance automatically, Kosovo took the lead but eventually lost 2-1.

SEVILLA

Bryan Gil: Sevilla plan to slap €100m price tag on Spain star amid Barcelona, Real Madrid link

One Spain player everyone is keeping an eye on is Bryan Gil, on loan at Eibar from Sevilla. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal are all said to be watching the 20-year-old winger, who made his debut for Spain against Greece.

2022 WORLD CUP QUALIFYING

Georgia 1-2 Spain result, summary, goals: 2022 World Cup qualifying Group B

Spain went behind against Willy Sagnol's side and needed the intervention of their young guns to secure three points to keep Sweden from running away with the group and there have been plenty of questions asked of Luis Enrique's side this international break. There are a lot of caps in the squad but most of them are shared bewteen veterans Sergio Ramos, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, David de Gea, Álvaro Morata, Thiago and Koke. Beyond that there is a lot of talent but it hasn't quite clicked on the pitch yet.

Kosovo have so far only played once, a 3-0 defeat against Sweden, and will look to bolster their chances of finishing in the top two by springing a surprise on Luis Enrique's side in Seville this evening. Spain have been far from convincing in qualifying, drawing against a Greece side who managed one shot on goal and needing a stoppage time Dani Olmo goal to squeeze past Georgia at the weekend.

Sweden currently top Group B in UEFA qualifying after two wins from two for Janne Andersson's side but Spain can move into pole position this evening with a victory, albeit with one game more played than their chief opponents to snatch the automatic qualfying place.
