Jürgen Damm wants to return to Mexico national team

Jürgen Damm is entering his first full Major League Soccer season with Atlanta United and is “feeling very good” ahead of the start of the competition. The Mexican international wants to earn a starting role and make an impact with the Five Stripes so he can be called up to the Mexico national team.

Damm arrived in the MLS during mid-season last year and had a hard time adapting to the league because of the break that occurred due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now that he got a feel of the league and with a full pre-season, Damm is ready to make a statement in his second year in the MLS.

“I’m very happy I could complete a whole pre-season with a new head coach,” Damm said in a Zoom call with the media. “I have no excuses. I have my complete preseason. I feel very good with my fitness. With the ball, I’m starting to feel very good.”

Wants to return to ‘El Tri’

He also hopes that his good performances this year with Atlanta United in the MLS and in the CONCACAF Champions League will catch the eye of the coach of the Mexico national team, Gerardo Martino. ‘El Tri’ will have a busy summer with the 2021 Gold Cup, the Olympics, and the CONCACAF Nations League.

“I want to have a very good season. I want to help my team to reach the playoffs and become champions again. Hopefully I have a very good year, that’s good for Atlanta, good for me and hopefully gets me back to the national team.”
