CORONAVIRUS STIMULUS CHECK

Third stimulus check: when is the next wave of missing payments being sent?

The IRS have confirmed that Social Security beneficiaries have recieved their $1,400 payments, but Veterans Affairs recipients are yet to get their checks.

Update:
The IRS have confirmed that Social Security beneficiaries have recieved their $1,400 payments, but Veterans Affairs recipients are yet to get their checks.

On Wednesday 7 April the IRS confirmed that an additional batch of over 25 million stimulus check payments, totalling more than $36 billion, had arrived in recipients’ bank accounts. This latest burst takes the total number of payments made to 156 million.

The vast majority of eligible Americans have now received their stimulus check payments but some groups are still within their money. In particular, Veterans Affairs (VA) and Compensation and Pension (C&P) beneficiaries are yet to get their payments. Here’s what you need to know about the next round of stimulus check payments.

Who will be next to get their stimulus checks?

In a statement released to announce the latest round of payments, the IRS outlined their plans for two key groups who are yet to get their stimulus check money.

They say that they expect to begin processing payments for “Veterans Affairs (VA), which covers veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension (C&P) benefit payments who don’t normally file a tax return” by the end of the week. For the majority of recipients who get the payment via electronic bank transfer, the payment will arrive on 14 April.

Beneficiaries will not be able to use the IRS’ online track (Get My Payment tool) until the process has begun, but they expect that information will be available from 10-11 April.

How to track the status of physical stimulus checks

While the IRS is already looking ahead to the next batch of stimulus check payments, some recipients from the previous rounds have not yet had their money. For those who receive the support in the form of a paper stimulus check or Economic Impact Payment (EIP) debit card, they will have to wait for it to arrive in the mail.

Over 15 million paper stimulus checks, totalling $34 billion, and roughly 5 million EIP debit cards, worth around $11 billion, have been sent out in recent weeks. But it may take some time for the United States Postal Service to get them out to recipients.

If you think you may be one of those or have received previous stimulus check payments through the mail, you can check on the status using the IRS’ online tracker. The Get My Payment tool is typically updated once a day and will let you know if your payment has been sent out in the mail or if it is still being processed.
