Tim Cahill becomes Aspire Academy's Chairman for Sports Affairs

Aspire Academy appointed Tim Cahill as its Chairman of Sports Affairs in order to draw on the Australian’s experience in football and sports-related work in general.

Cahill has long been serving as an ambassador for the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, which is responsible for managing the related to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup – along with other footballing stars such as Xavi Hernandez, now coach of Al Sadd SC, former Brazil international Cafu, Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o, as well as several Arab ambassadors, including Egyptians Moamed Abo Trika and Wael Jumaa, Kuwait’s Badr Al-Mutawa, and Iraq’s Younis Mahmoud, among others.

The Supreme Committee congratulated Cahill on Twitter, stating: “Congratulations to the Supreme Committee Ambassador and former Australian football star Tim Cahill on his appointment as President of Sports Affairs at the Aspire Academy.”

As a Supreme Committee Ambassador, Cahill has more than one role in the Committee's initiatives apart from his continuous involvement in the activities of Generation Amazing, in order to take advantage of his football experience.

Therefore, given the appointment of Cahill in this new position, it will require him to spend more time in the city of Doha than ever before, as will his increased participation in the activities for Qatar 2022, especially with the little time remaining until the tournament’s opening match at the 60,000-seater Al Bayt stadium.
