Federico Higuaín and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández included in the MLS team of the week

Both strikers scored in their respective games and led their teams to victory in week 2 of the 2021 Major League Soccer regular season.

Federico Higuaín and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández included in the MLS team of the week

The Los Angeles Galaxy won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2010 and Javier Hernández was named the player of the week for week 2 due to his hat-trick scored against New York Red Bulls on Sunday. The Mexican international has scored 5 goals in two games and was included, again, in the MLS team of the week for week 2.

‘Chicharito’ is not the only striker that highlighted this weeked in Major League Soccer. Federico Higuaín scored and gave an assist in Inter Miami's 2-1 victory against Philadelphia Union. The Argentine striker gave an assist to his brother, Gonzalo, who scored the winning goal at the PPL Park.

Austin FC made history this weekend

The debuting franchise in Major League Soccer obtained their first victory in their history thanks to a brace from Cecilio Domínguez. Austin FC defeated Colorado Rapids 3-1 at the DSG Park to obtain their first three points of the season after losing to LAFC 2-0 in their season opener.

MLS Team of the Week

On Monday, Major League Soccer announced the team of the week for week 2 and named Austin FC’s Josh Wolff as the best in his position this weekend. The team is organized in a 3-4-3 formation and also included 7 highlighter players on the bench.
