Giannis leads Milwaukee Bucks past Nets

COMMENT

The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Brooklyn Nets in the Fiserv Forum for the second time in three days, and will hold the tiebreaker if both teams should finish with the same record at the regular season.

Perhaps not the instant classic that we witnessed on Sunday afternoon, but tonight’s game was played on a razors edge for most of the night. Very little separated the two sides the entire evening

Like he did on Sunday, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks in scoring with 36 points, but it was Khris Middleton who took over late in the game, hitting big shot after big shot deep into the game.

The Milwaukee small forward had 23 points and made the Nets pay every time they left him open to provide defensive help on Giannis. Jru Holiday was two rebounds away from a triple double in a 23 point outing.

The Nets led by two points going into the second half, but a 18-1 run in the fourth unraveled the James Hardenless Brooklyn side, and Steve Nash’s team was never able to recover.

Milwaukee hit the boards hard tonight, dragging down 16 more rebounds than the visitors, and 15 of their 55 boards were on the offensive end.

Kyrie Irving led all scorers with 38 points, and Kevin Durant followed up with 32 but the tandem didn’t get much help from their role players.

This was the third and final game between the two teams, the Bucks win tonight means they take the season series two games to one.

The Bucks are now a game and a half back of Brooklyn, with seven games remaining in the regular season. Philadelphia looks to be the favorite to finish on top of the Eastern Conference, but lead the Nets by just a game and a half with seven games remaining.

Is this a preview of the Eastern Conference Championship? Sunday's game ceratinly had that feel to it.

This will be the thrid and final time these two teams meet in the regular season. The Nets won the opening game earlier in the season, but the Bucks evened the season series on Sunday

Hello everyone, and welcome to AS English’s live coverage of the Brooklyn Nets at Milwaukee Bucks game from the Fiserv Forum.

Deadlocked in a three team battle for first place in the Eastern Conference two of the top teams in the standings go toe to toe for the second time in three days.

The Bucks won a thriller on Sunday afternoon, and have a chance to tighten the gap between them and the second place Nets tonight.

The Philadelphia 76ers top the Eastern Conference standing with a record of 44-21. Brooklyn trails them by just a game, while the Bucks sit 3.5 games back of Phillly.

There are no secrets on who we will be keeping an eye on tonight. The spotlight will be shined on the Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant match up all night, and with good reason.

In the heavyweight showdown between these two teams days ago KD scored 42 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but was topped by the Greek Freak who had 49 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

KD had a chance to tie the game with a last grasp three from the top of the key, but hit the iron and the Bucks closed out the narrow win on their home floor.

Both KD and Giannis are former MVP winners, and both are in contention to add to collection this season. Antetokounmpo is averaging 28.4 ppg, and Durant sits just under the Greek at  28.1 ppg,
