The provisional rosters for the Gold Cup have been submitted ahead of the 25-nation tournament. We provide a rundown of some of the MLS players who have been named in those preliminary rosters.
The countdown to the CONCACAF Gold Cup has begun and the provisional rosters have been selected and submitted by each of the teams taking part in the tournament.
The final 23-player rosters for all participating teams will be confirmed prior to the start of the preliminary round, which begins 2 July. After the deadline for submission, changes will only be allowed in the event of force majeure or injury up until 24 hours before each team’s opening group stage game.
Here are some MLS players who have been named in the Gold Cup preliminary rosters.
Head coach Tata Martino has named LA Galaxy forward and Mexico’s all-time leading scorer Javier “Chicharito” Hernández to his 60-man preliminary roster. Other MLS players that have been included in the list are Sporting Kansas City forward Alan Pulido, Inter Miami CF midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro and LA midfielders Jonathan Dos Santos and Efrain Álvarez.
Seattle Sounders defender Alex Roldán has been included in the roster, so it will depend on head coach Hugo Pérez if he will make his debut with the national team. He could play alongside Houston Dynamo FC midfielder Darwin Ceren and Toronto FC center back Eriq Zavaleta.
The MLS player to watch is Columbus Crew goalkeeper Eloy Room. He will likely be decisive for Curaçao in the tournament.
The USMNT roster has plenty of MLS players. Goalkeeper Matt Turner (New England Revolution), defender Miles Robinson (Atlanta United) and winger Paul Arriola (D.C. United) are among those named by Gregg Berhalter who could play a major role in the competition.
Coach John Herdman has included some MLS players in his roster, whose standout names are Bayern Munich wing back Alphonso Davies and forward Cyle Larin.

Seattle Sounders midfielder Jordy Delem was the only MLS player included in Mario Bocaly’s list, but he won’t take part in the tournament after he tore his ACL earlier this season.
Costa Rica will likely call upon many MLS players going into this summer’s Gold Cup. Nashville SC attacker Randall Leal, Chicago Fire FC center back Francisco Calvo and FC Cincinnati left back Ronald Matarrita are among them.
Jamaica will also be represented by quite a few MLS players and the Philadelphia Union have three on the national team: goalkeeper Andre Blake, defender Alvas Powell and forward Cory Burke.
Inter Miami CF defender Kelvin Leerdam is the only MLS name in Suriname’s squad.
'Los Catrachos' have included six MLS players, including CF Montréal forward Romell Quioto, FC Dallas midfielder Bryan Acosta and Houston Dynamo FC defender Maynor Figueroa.
Three MLS players appear in Panama’s squad: Nashville SC midfielder Anibal Godoy, LA Galaxy midfielder Carlos Harvey and NY Red Bulls defender Michael Murillo.
