What is the USA basketball 3 vs 3 national roster for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics?

The three-on-three tournament will make its debut at the Olympics with eight women's teams and will run from 24 to 28 July at Aomi Urban Sports Park.

Update:
The three-on-three tournament will make its debut at the Olympics with eight women's teams and will run from July 24 to July 28 at Aomi Urban Sports Park.

Four WNBA players will represent USA’s basketball 3 vs 3 roster at the Tokyo Olympic Games, after the men’s team was eliminated by the Netherlands in the qualifiers last May.

The Americans booked their tickets to Tokyo after going undefeated at the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament that was held in Graz, Austria in May.

Who will represent Team USA?

The Sky's Stefanie Dolson, the Wings' Allisha Gray, the Aces' Kelsey Plum and the Storm's Katie Lou Samuelson will be the players to seek gold in a competition that will take place for the first time at the Olympics.

Dolson, 29, is a two-time WNBA All-Star and won a pair of NCAA Championships during her college days at the University of Connecticut.

Gray is now in her fourth WNBA season with the Dallas Wings. In 2017 she won the WNBA Rookie of the Year after starting all 34 games and averaging 13 points per game.

Meanwhile, Plum, selected No. 1 overall in the 2017 draft, was named to the 2017 WNBA All-Rookie Team. Moreover, she helped Team USA win gold at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup and silver at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

Samuelson, the youngest member of the team, helped guide the UConn Huskies to an NCAA championship in 2016. Through 10 games with the Seattle Storm, the 24-year-old is averaging nearly 20 minutes per game and a career-best 48.1 field goal percentage.

They will be competing in the Olympics for the first time, although they have already played for USA Basketball before. Kara Lawson, the women's basketball coach at Duke, will be in charge of the three-on-three team.

Lawson, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, has guided USA Basketball's three-on-three teams to six gold medals across multiple competitions since 2017.

The 3x3 is a distinct form of basketball sanctioned by FIBA, where scoring is counted by ones and twos. All shots inside what is traditionally the three-point arc will count as one, and all shots from behind will be worth two.
