Team USA will try to exact revenge from their tournament-opening loss when they face France in the Tokyo Olympics men's basketball final.
Two defeats in exhibition matches prior to that disappointment against France was not the best start for the 2016 Olympic champions, but since then Gregg Popovich’s men have raised their level with the objective of proving the critics wrong and winning the gold medal.
USA, too strong when it matters
Facing Spain in the quarters, the USA had a great performance against the No.2 ranked team in the world, according to FIBA's world rankings, while they showed no mercy against Australia, another of the favorites to win the competition.
The USA were able to avoid injuries prior to their final contest of the Tokyo Olympics and will likely stick to the same starting five that have taken the floor in the previous four games.
Can France do it again?
Meanwhile, France, the only undefeated team in the tournament, booked their place in the final after beating Slovenia with a dramatic late block from LA Clippers swingman Nicolas Batum.
Nando de Colo, who scored 25 points against Slovenia, and Rudy Gobert, who has the fourth-most rebounds per contest and the team's best efficiency, have been key players to France’s great results. Like Team USA, France will likely remain unchanged for the final.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games basketball match between France and USA will take place at the Saitama Super Arena, Saitama, on Friday 6 August 2021 at 10:30 pm US (EDT) and 07:30 pm US (PDT).
