Leo Messi flew into Paris-Le Bourget Airport on Tuesday ahead of the official announcement of his deal to join PSG from Barcelona, with an army of fans waiting to greet the Argentina captain as he made his arrival in the French capital. Messi has agreed to a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes, with the option of a third season, after leaving Barcelona as a free agent after 21 years at the Liga side, who were unable to come up with the funds to retain the six-times Ballon d'Or winner due to salary cap constraints.

Having undergone a medical in Paris later on Tuesday and completed various formalities, he is expected to install himself and his family in the Royal Monceau hotel in the 8th arrondissement, a stone-throw from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées.

Messi is scheduled to be unveiled as a PSG player on Wednesday, with the presentation set to take place at the Eiffel Tower. PSG have used the backdrop of Paris' most famous landmark for presentations before, notably when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was signed in 2012 and again when the world transfer record was broken for Messi's former Barcelona teammate Neymar.

When will Messi make his PSG debut?

When the necessary paperwork has been filled out to register Messi with Ligue 1 attention will turn to the Argentinean's debut for his new club. The domestic campaign is already underway with PSG getting off to a winning start against Troyes and Messi is slated to make his PSG debut on Matchday 5 against newly promoted Clermont on 12 September 2021.
