Barcelona: Piqué ruled out for a fortnight with calf muscle injury
Tests confirmed a minor injury to Piqué's left calf muscle which is expected to keep him sidelined for the next two weeks. He will miss the Getafe game.
Good news for Gerard Piqué. Tests conducted this morning revealed damage to the player's left calf - the diagnosis was a small elongation of the muscle, which will keep him sidelined for the next two weeks. Fortunately, that means that the centre-back will only miss the team's next game, against Getafe next Sunday at Camp Nou.
Piqué will be able to take advantage of the international break to make sure he makes a full recovery and be back to full fitness by the time Barcelona's fixtures start to get into full swing with the first Champions League group stage game and the league meeting with Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán just around the corner.
It is worth noting that Piqué's injury is not related to the discomfort he was experiencing last week - twinges affecting his right calf muscle. This new injury concerns his other leg which he suffered while disputing a high ball in the box.

New defence for Getafe visit
With Piqué's injury confirmed, Ronald Koeman must field a new central defensive pair in the next match as Eric Garcia is also ruled out of the Getafe game after being sent off at San Mamés last night.
The Barcelona coach is likely to field Ronald Araújo and Clément Lenglet against Getafe - neither have played in LaLiga so far this season. Elsewhere, Óscar Mingueza, who sustained a thigh injury while on duty for Spain at the Olympics is close to returning. But Samuel Umtiti, who continues to be frozen by the club to pressurise him into leaving, is not an option.
