Two rookies in NFL top 5 jersey sales, with Patriots draft pick beating Tom Brady
Patriots' rookie QB prospect Mac Jones currently has the second-highest selling jersey in the league, and is ahead of Tom Brady himself.
On Thursday, official NFL jersey provider Fanatics unveiled an updated record of the league’s top-selling jerseys since 1 August, with two rookies ranking among the top five.
With Tom Brady having left New England, Patriots fans are longing for a new quarterback hero to worship and appear to have found their man in Mac Jones. Jones, fifteenth in the overall 2021 draft pick, has had the no. 2 selling jersey since 1 August as the hype machine surrounding the young quarterback prospect continues to grow.
Jones, who has been handed the Patriot's No. 10 jersey, has even outpaced Brady himself, who comes in behind him in third in the top-selling jersey list. Although Jones’ position could be down to an initial buying surge as his jersey was only available as recently as last month.
Bears rookie Justin Fields comes in fourth
Another rookie quarterback generating big expectations is Chicago Bears first round draft pick Justin Fields, who comes in fourth behind Brady.
Fields’ inclusion in the top five will probably not come as welcome news to one man in Chicago, Bears senior signal caller, Andy Dalton, whose under big pressure to keep his starting place amid growing calls from fans and pundits demanding to see Fields as starting QB.

Jose Allen tops list, Patrick Mahomes in fifth
Topping the jersey sale list is Buffalo Bills’ QB Josh Allen, the 2020 MVP candidate who was handed a six-year, $258m extension by the Buffalo Bills in August, making him the league’s second highest-paid player (based on the average annual value of their contract) after Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes may top the highest-paid list but he currently trails Allen in jersey sales, coming in in fifth place. After signing a 10-year deal with the Chiefs last summer worth a record-breaking $450m, a figure which could rise to $503m with incentives, the 25-year-old led Kansas City to their second consecutive Super Bowl last season. Now the Chiefs' owners will hope Mahomes jerseys keep flying off the racks this season as they look to recoup at least a portion of that investment.
