The USMNT come into this match without one of their star players as Weston Mckennie was suspended for breaking covid-19 protocols. Mckennie, who has been guilty of such violations before was sent back to Italy where he currently plays for Juventus.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the USMNT’s visit to the Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, where they play Honduras looking to pick up valuable points in the scramble to qualify for the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Both teams are still looking for their first win in the CONCACAF 2022 World Cup qualifiers with both sides having played two and drawn two. Honduras drew 1-1 with Canada in their first match and followed that with a goalless encounter against El Salvador.
The USMNT meanwhile also drew 0-0 with El Salvador and followed that up with a 1-1 tie against Canada.
The top three teams in the region qualify for Qatar, the fourth-placed side goes into a play-off.
On a 'must win' night in Honduras the USMNT showed real grit as they overcame a plucky Honduras side backed by staunch local support. The game got off to a nervous start - for the Americans - as they came to grips with a Honduran team that seemed determined to simply over run their opposition.
Talisman Christian Pulisic seemed frustrated as he struggled to get the best both out of himself and his midfield. It was then that Honduras struck. With a diving header at the back post, Brayan Moya put them 1-0 up, a lead they would maintain until the half.
The second half began much as the first ended with Honduran pressure. Then as if out of nothing the US struck with a rebound shot from Antonee Robinson to equalize. At this point the difference in pedigree began to show as the Americans slowly took control. A defensive error allowed DeAndre Yedlin to cross for the young star Ricardo Pepi to head home. This was quickly followed by another error which gave way a Bredan Aaronson goal with a right footed shot to the top right corner. To put the matter to bed a final goal was scored by Sebastian Lletget with a right footed shot to the far corner. In the end the Hondurans will rue their defensive mishaps and the Americans will feel a 4-1 score is justified having shown real character.
