After winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France, Steven N'Zonzi joined AS Roma, but his days with the Serie A side are numbered. His contract expires in 2022, but the bosses from the team from the capital of Italy are looking to sell him before the transfer window closes.

MLS a possible destination

N’Zonzi has several offers from various clubs, but he has declined them because no one is willing to pay his high salary with AS Roma. According to Transfermarkt, the World Cup winner earned over 3 million euros with the Serie A side and no team interested in him is willing to cover his salary.

The summer transfer window is in its final stages and his future is up in the air. According to multiple reports, Premier League side Watford is interested in signing the French midfielder, but his high salary would break their wage structure.

He is a quality player, but as long as the door to the transfer market is not closed, there is the possibility that someone will go and someone else will enter,” said AS Roma manager José Mourinho when asked about N'Zonzi's situation.

Another option for the 32-year-old player would be Major League Soccer. According to several reports, many clubs in MLS have shown interest in him, but since he is not a free agent, he can’t arrive for the 2021 campaign because the transfer window closed on 5 August. So he would have to wait until January to sign with a team in Major League Soccer.
