Aaron Gordon has signed a four year contract extension with the Denver Nuggets. The slam dunk contest runner up in 2020 joined Denver in March of this year.

Update:
Aaron Gordon has signed a four year contract extension with the Denver Nuggets. The slam dunk contest runner up in 2020 joined Denver in March of this year.

The Denver Nuggets and forward Aaron Gordon have agreed to a four year contract extension worth $92 million, according to his agent Calvin Andrews of Klutch Sports.

Gordon was traded to Denver last season

The soon-to-be 26 year old inked the deal that could potentially keep him in a Nuggets jersey until the 2025-26 season depending on the a player option clause in the fourth year of his contract, according to The Athletic. Gordon will earn a base salary of $88 million and have an extra $4 million laid out in incentives.

Gordon joined Denver late last season after the Magic traded him for Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton and a 2025 projected first round pick. The former 4th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft averaged 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 25 games after the trade. His production dipped in the playoffs, where he averaged 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds before the Phoenix Suns swept the Nuggets in the second round.

Gordon is entering his eighth season in the draft, and is now the 11th player to sign a veteran extension.

Nuggets building a contender

The Nuggets finished the regular season with the fifth best record in the NBA, and wrapped up a third seed in the Western Conference playoffs last year. Denver wrapped up reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, and Jamal Murray to long term deals in hopes of building a championship foundation.

Michael Porter Jr. might be the next on the list of Nuggets to sign a contract extension. The sharp shooting guard averaged 19 points last year.

Not only is Gordon an excellent compliment to Jokic down in the paint, but he can also ignite the crowd with his dazzling dunks. In 2020 he came in second behind Derrick Jones Jr. in the dunk contest.
