Washington Football Team will host the New York Giants for Thursday Night Football. It will mark their first division game. However, this night will also be important as the team has announced that they will organize the first gay parade called "Pride Night." This will be the first event created specifically for the LGBTQ community.

The franchise recently partnered with Team DC, an organization involved in promoting the LGBTQ in the world of sports. In the best tailgating tradition, they will also have a pre-game party with an all-you-can-eat buffet and a "guaranteed limited edition Washington Football Team Pride giveaway."

The NFL and the LGBTQ community

Moreover, this news comes just months after defensive end, Carl Nassib of the Las Vegas Raiders, announced that he was the first openly gay active player, a big story for the NFL, who have been trying to reach the LGBTQ community for some time now.

Team DC organizer Brent Minor commented in an interview with the media outlet the Washington Blade that, "Establishing these relationships is important and who knows where this leads when you are embraced in a positive way. When you can break down a barrier between the LGBTQ community and the NFL, that's rarefied air."

The Team DC organizer was clear that they "don't want these community nights to just be a monetary transaction, we want to build bridges and encourage inclusion."
