After Real Madrid's 1-0 win in Group D, we take at look at how Carlo Ancelotti's starting eleven and substitutes played.

Thibaut Courtois

The Beligan was superb on the night, saving on a couple of occasions from point-blank range, including a header from Dzeko. 8/10

Dani Carvajal

He had to deal with the threat of Perisic and the Croatian's combinations with Çalhanoglu and Dzeko. Lucas Vázquez played ahead of him and offered cover. In the second, Benzema set him up for a chance, but his shot was met by Handanovic. 7/10

Éder Militão

The Brazilian had a tough time with Lautaro Martínez in the opening 45'. The Argentinian got the better of him at times. He also struggled at set-pieces, giving space to Skriniar which almost resulted in a goal. Madrid almost scored from his header from a corner that went narrowly wide. 6/10

David Alaba

The Austrian had a fight on his hands, dealing with Lautaro and Dzeko. He played at centre-back and Ancelotti played Nacho at left-back. He was yellow carded for cutting off a very promising counter attack involving Dzeko. 7/10

Nacho

Ancelotti started him at full-back, wanting to cover for the defensive cracks that Madrid had shown against Celta Vigo at the weekend. He improved in the second half, with Madrid becoming more dominant as the game went on. 6/10

Casemiro

He had Madrid's first effort of the match with a shot from the edge of the area in the 14th minute, but it flew wide. In the second half, he played in a more advanced role and pulled Madrid up the pitch. 6/10

Luka Modric

The 36-year-old had a tough first half, with Inter pressing high up the pitch and winning all the battles. Madrid failed to really get a grip on the game early on and Modric suffered as a result. Ancelotti's side were better in the second half and the Croatian offered more before eventually being substituted for Camavinga in the 80th minute. 7/10

Fede Valverde

The Uruguayan looked to burst forward to drive Madrid on when they were struggling. He lacked the final ball on occasion. He provided defensive cover when Madrid had their backs to the wall. In the second half he upped his game and played a wonderful pass to Camavinga to assist Rodrygo for the winning goal. 7/10

Lucas Vázquez

The Galician player had a poor first half, offering very little in his right wing role. It is becoming increasingly clearer that his role in the team is as a winger. He made way for Rodrygo in the 65th minute. 5/10

Karim Benzema

Another player who was hardly visible in the first half. He tried to give an outlet to the team's play by holding the ball up but was often surrounded by three of four Inter defenders, who at times were playing with a back six. He played a perfect ball to Carvajal, but Handanovic denied Madrid a goal. Ten minutes from the end he headed just wide from a good Valverde cross; it was his best chance of the match. 6/10

Vinicius

He made several counter-attacking attempts in the first half to try and stretch Inter. Skriniar blocked his left-footed effort late on as he went through on goal. He made way for Asensio in the 90th minute. 6/10

Substitutions

Rodrygo

The young winger came on in 65th minute in place of Lucas Vázquez and won a corner as soon as he entered the pitch. In the last few minutes he moved into a central position. He finished off Camavinga's pass perfectly to give Madrid the win in the 89th minute. 8/10

Eduardo Camavinga

The Frenchman came on in the 80th minute for Modric. He scored against Celta Vigo on Sunday and assisted Rodrygo against Inter with a fine pass. An excellent start to life at Madrid. 8/10

Marco Asensio

He came on in the 90th minute for Vinicius.
