Jiu Jitsu world champion Alex Williams floors attacker

A random attacker got more than he bargained for when he attacked a 16-year-old student on his lunch break in Guisborough High Street in North Yorkshire, England. The student, Alex Williams, is a Jiu Jitsu world champion and kick-boxing expert and floored the attacker with a double leg takedown before restraining the fully grown man on the ground.

The man then came back for another go, which led to Williams continuing to “try to restrain him without hitting him” said the teenager.

Unfortunately for Williams he had to go to hospital after the incident, as the attacker managed to bite his ear, leaving the student requiring six stitches.

No apparent reason for attack

According to Williams, the attacker approached him for no reason, shouting “I’m gonna smash your head in” and “I’m gonna stab you down the alley”.

The victim told local radio station Teesside Live: 'As he got closer to me I saw an opportunity to defend myself and fight back, so I took it. When the fight or flight kicks in you've got to choose one or the other and I chose to fight back and I was focused. Obviously I was worried in case he had a knife on him because he has threatened to stab me but in situations like that it's about surviving and I was thankfully ready for him.'

The video clip has now been seen nearly two million times. It was shared by pro fighter Alex Enlund who said: “Alex shows composure, restraint and courage to handle this situation. Get your kid into Martial Arts & Combat Sports it's unlikely they will become the bully due to the humility learned on mats.'

Police statement

Cleveland Police confirmed they had been informed of an unprovoked assault, with a spokesperson saying: “Police were contacted just before 2pm on Tuesday by a member of the public reporting an unprovoked assault on a 16-year-old boy in Guisborough around an hour before.

"The boy had been verbally threatened then assaulted by a man, who was possibly with another man. He suffered bruising and a bite to his ear. The caller gave initial first aid while his parents were contacted to take him for further medical checks and treatment.

"Officers spoke to his parents again later that day and arranged for an officer to attend the boy’s home address to take further details."
