York's Nick Gates faces an uncertain future after horror injury.
Nick Gates is not out of the woods yet
New York Giants offensive lineman Nick Gates continues to recover in a Virginia hospital. According to sources he actually will face more operations after breaking his leg last week against the Washington Football Team. Asked if it was a career ending injury, head coach Joe Judge did not completely dismiss the notion, but remained hopeful that it was not going to be the final verdict.

"I'd be lying, if from my perspective, if I said no," Judge said to it potentially being a career-ending injury. "I know that there are some comparisons to other players. These things are all different. I know he's going to have the best medical care possible, here or elsewhere whatever we can do. So we are confident he's going to be able to come back."
Gates' agent Jon Perzley also added his own vote of confidence having spoken with the medical team responsible for Gates. "Mark my word, Nick will be back in blue next year," he said. "While in some cases these types of injuries can be career-threatening, Nick's situation is not that. It doesn't hurt that he is the toughest guy on the planet."
Gates remains positive with the Giants' support
Though the images of Gates' injury were painful to watch, fans were treated to a complete turn around when just two days after his injury, Gates posted a story on Instagram of him walking. Additionally he has been in contact with his teammates and continues to maintain positivity. Some of his teammates in fact have done what they can to keep his focus elsewhere. Head coach Joe Judge added, "...keep his mind going down there. Xbox or something like that," Judge said. "Listen, the guy is in a bed all day. Trying to take his mind off it. When he gets back, obviously we'll keep this guy as involved as we can with the team."

How did Gates' injury occur?
Gates, sustained the injury in the first half of last Thursday's 30-29 loss against the Washington Football Team. So extreme was the nature of the injury that the NFL Network's broadcast declined to show it to viewers. "I snapped that s--- in half," Gates would later tell Perzley.

The injury came when Gates' leg seemed to be caught under Washington's defensive tackle Jonathan Allen with under six minutes to go in the first quarter. In visible pain, he could be seen trashing in agony as medics rushed to his aid. Judge could be seen trying to comfort Gates in the middle of the field as he was attended to. Gates' then had his leg secured in an air cast after which he was carted off the field - waving to the crowd as he went. The entire Giants team as well as a portion of the Washington sideline came to his side to wish him well.
The Giants player was then taken to the hospital where he currently still remains.
