Multiple reports indicate that the 20-year-old has chosen to represent Mexico on the international stage and his paperwork has been filed and approved by FIFA.

LA Galaxy’s Julian Araujo declares for Mexico national team

On Monday, FIFA confirmed that Julian Araujo will be granted a one-time switch from the United States to Mexico and his paperwork has been approved. This means that he is now eligible to receive a call from Mexico national team coach Gerardo Martino.

Araujo ready for his debut with Mexico

The LA Galaxy defender will not be able to play with Mexico during the FIFA international break this month as his paperwork didn’t get approved on time. ‘El Tri’ will face the second round of the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF against Canada (7 October), Honduras (10 October) and El Salvador (13 October).

The 20-year-old defender will have to wait until the FIFA international break in November to make his debut with the Mexican national team. It has been reported that Araujo has been in constant communication with Gerardo Martino and he could make his debut on 12 November against the USMNT.

Araujo made his debut with the United States men’s national team last December and started as a right-back in a 6-0 win against El Salvador during an exhibition match. The LA Galaxy defender also played for the United States U23 team against Mexico during the Tokyo Olympic qualifiers in CONCACAF in a 1-0 defeat.
