PSG's Leonardo blasts Real Madrid for "lack of respect" over Mbappé comments
PSG sporting director Leonardo has stated the Real Madrid president Florentino Peréz's comments on Kylian Mbappé "cannot be tolerated”.
PSG sporting director Leonardo has expressed his anger following the latest comments by Real Madrid president Florentino Peréz regarding Kylian Mbappé.
Leonardo’s indignation comes as Mbappé himself revealed he wanted to leave PSG for Real Madrid in the summer. Meanwhile, discussing the French striker at an event put on by the media outlet El Debate, Peréz declared: “In January, we will have news on Mbappé. Hopefully everything can be sorted on 1 January.” Although after the Madrid president said his words had been “misinterpreted”.
Nevertheless, his comments have not gone down well with Leonardo, who blasted Peréz for displaying “a lack of respect that cannot be tolerated”.
Leonardo: “Real Madrid cannot continue behaving like this”
"These new words from Florentino Pérez -- to El Debate -- are only a continuation of the lack of respect for PSG and Kylian. In the same week, a Real Madrid player (Karim Benzema), then the coach (Carlo Ancelotti) and now the president of Real Madrid talks about Kylian as if he were already one of them,” Leonardo told L’Equipe.
“Florentino Pérez has already talked about Kylian to the Real Madrid fans during the week. I repeat: it is a lack of respect that cannot be tolerated.”
In addition, the Brazilian executive added: "The Florentino thing has been going on for two years. I want to remind him that the transfer market is over, the season is underway. There are games underway and Real Madrid cannot continue behaving like this. They need to stop! Kylian is a PSG player and the club understands perfectly that this relationship will last.”
Leonardo did not discuss the comments of Mbappé himself, which will have undoubtedly further exacerbated the PSG sporting director’s frustrations.
