WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury vowed to send Deontay Wilder into retirement while the WBC world heavyweight challenger claimed Fury had "no knockout power" as the fighters came face-to-face on Thursday ahead of their trilogy rematch at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on October 9.

Fury (30-0-1) first fought former long-time heavyweight champion Wilder (42-1-1) to a draw in 2018 and took the WBC title from him in a rematch in February 2020 with a seventh-round stoppage, the first of Wilder's career.

"You're in denial and you're going to get knocked out and retire," Fury said. "Your legacy is in bits. All the excuses, you've been destroyed. No one has believed you. They're all laughing at you like a weak piece of s***. You're a weak man, you're getting knocked out."

"You don't know nothing about knocking anyone out," Wilder responded. "You don't have knockout power. You're not a knockout artist."

Fury's record

The 31-year-old Fury boasts an impressive career record ofhaving never been defeated since his boxing breakthrough in 2008 when he overcame Hungarian fighter Bela Gyöngyösi in Nottingham. As his career progressed the 'Gyspy King' gradually moved to bigger stages in both the UK and Ireland.

Some of Fury's highest profile fights have come against the likes of Dereck Chisora (2014) and the epic battle against Ukraine's Klitschko in 2015.

It was the Deontay Wilder bouts however, that really put the Mancunian boxer on the global map after his fights with American in 2018 and 2020. Indeed it was in the first of his fights with Wilder where the British boxer experienced the only blip on his immaculate fighting record. Wilder had Fury on the canvas on two occasions and the 12-round battle was ultimately declared a draw with the 'Gypsy King' just moments away from being counted out.
