With Halloween just days away many are looking for the best way to put together a DIY costume based on their favorite characters from Netflix's Squid Game
Squid Game, the Korean thriller, has taken the world by storm. Since its launch on Netflix, the program has been seen by more than 111 million accounts worldwide. Within just days of its premiere, the program became the most streamed show in over ninty countries.
In the US, the polling organization, Morning Consult, found that nearly a quarter of all residents had seen the show.
With Halloween quickly approaching, many are looking to dress up as some of the most notable characters from the program. Many retailers are now selling ready-made packs, but with Halloween just days away many are opting for DIY versions that can be put together with a few basic pieces.
Many of the basics needed to complete these looks are available at popular retailers like Target, Walmart, Amazon, and others.
Doll
The “Red Light, Green Light” doll which monitors the players throughout the first game has become one of the most sought-after costumes. To recreate the outfit worn by the deadly doll, you will need a yellow shirt, like this one from Target. Over that, you will wear an orange dress, like this one from Cider.
To finish out the look add some white knee-high socks and black shoes, specifically Mary Janes .
To avoid any confusion, you can put your hair in two low pigtails or purchase a short brown-haired wig.
Player
Should someone be able to get their hands on a green tracksuit, they will be able to complete the costume of a player. Some interested in dressing up as a player have success finding a tracksuit on Etsy. To stick to the costume seen In the show, a person can wear a white t-shirt under their tracksuit.
Many of the player costumes that can be bought will have 467 listed, meaning that if you want to stand out, you can draw, iron-on, or stitch the number of your favorite character.
Throw on some white sneakers and the costume is complete. A new report showed that demand for slip-on white vans has grown by more than 7,000 percent since the show debuted.
Guards
The guard costume is rather simple. You will need a red jumpsuit, which could consist of a red shirt, sweatshirt, or windbreaker, and pants. A black mask, in the shape of a ski mask, could be bought for the face-covering element of the costume.
Those looking for a more authentic interpretation can use white duck tape to create a shape over the black maks. To complete the look, one can add black boots and a black belt.
