Liverpool's Salah on verge of more Premier League history

The Egyptian King loves nothing better than filling opposition nets on as many occasions as possible, and more against Watford will see another record.

Update:
Liverpool's Salah on verge of more Premier League history

Two goals for Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in Saturday’s opening Premier League match at Vicarage Road will hand him yet another record. The Egyptian King has already notched up six goals in seven games this season and that included a contender for the campaign’s best as he walked through the Manchester City defence last time out. He’s also added three more in the Champions League’s opening two group games.

The record up for grabs is to become the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history. One net filled by the Reds magical number 11 will bring him level with former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, on 104. The Ivorian managed that feat in 254 matches.

A brace from Salah will see him take the crown outright, with 105 goals on his 165th English top flight appearances (two of those goals coming in the 13 showings for the Blues between 2013 and 2015).

Against Watford Salah has scored eight goals in just six games. The Hornets sit alongside the likes of West Ham United (nine in eight) and Bournemouth (eight in six) as the Egyptian’s favoured opponents. And it doesn’t take a mathematical genius to acknowledge that with an average of a goal per game in this fixture, as well as being in sparkling form, he’s coming into this clash with a great chance of claiming the African record.

Out of interest, while we expect Salah to take this accolade very soon - even if not against Watford - his Anfield teammate Sadio Mané is not far behind him in the African scoring charts. The Senegalese man has 99 goals and will be hoping that he can make history himself by joining the Premier League 100 club.
