The World Series heads back to Texas for Game 6 after the Houston Astros managed to stay in the running with a 9-5 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

The American League champions overcame a four-run deficit in Game 5 and became the first visiting team to win at Truist Park this postseason. They banked on the talents of Carlos Correa and Yuli Gurriel, who together drove in three runs.

Second chance at the championship

The Braves squandered the lead and their chance to win the pennant at home, unable to overcome a revamped Astros batting order. This is their second shot at the trophy and still lead the series at 3-2.

Atlanta is expected to send Max Fried to the mound first. He was the losing pitcher in Game 2, allowing six runs in five innings. The 27-year-old has had problems in his last two appearances, but he has been one of Atlanta’s most reliable starters.

Meanwhile, Luis Garcia will likely start for the Astros after three days of rest. The rookie took the team’s 2-0 loss in Atlanta in Game 3, surrendering three hits, a run, and four walks in less than four innings. The 24-year-old has lasted less than four innings in three of five starts.

History favors the leading team

Houston will be banking on the home field advantage to try and become only the 15th team in MLB history to come back from a 3-1 disadvantage to win the Series. Atlanta will be on the right side of history, as teams who take a 3-1 lead have gone on to win the World Series 40 out of 46 times.

The odds have the Braves at an advantage, and favored to win Game 6 and the championship.

Game 6 of the World Series between the Astros and the Braves starts at 8 p.m. ET at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday, Nov. 2. We will be covering all the live action with our in-house baseball expert Jeffrey May right here on AS USA.
